NewCourtland is a proud sponsor of the new Allegheny West Foundation food distribution center

The Allegheny West Foundation (AWF) Food Program was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide vital food support to 2,000 families each month in the Allegheny West Community. To improve its operations, AWF is building a 1,800-square-foot storage facility near the Panati Recreation Center, which will include refrigeration for perishable items. This initiative, supported by local partnerships such as NewCourtland and government officials, aims to address food insecurity caused by job loss and socioeconomic factors.
The program supplies free, healthy food and promotes nutrition education, empowering families to make healthier choices. AWF’s efforts are expected to serve as a model for addressing food insecurity in other communities and fostering a healthier and more resilient population.
