NewCourtland Philadelphia Senior Center on the Avenue of the Arts to Host Veteran’s Day Event for Seniors
What:
On Friday, November 11, 2016 the NewCourtland Philadelphia Senior Center on the Avenue of the Arts will host a Veteran Appreciation event from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. The event will spotlight center members who served in the U.S. Armed Forces as they share stories from their time in active duty. The program will also include the presentation of colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, a salute to all vets and a performance of the national anthem.
Featured speakers will include:
- Keynote Speaker: Chief Petty Officer Andrea K. Jones, has been in the United States Navy for 12 years and she served on 3 United States Warships. She is currently on orders in Virginia Beach and is an Air Intercept Control Instructor.
- Master of Ceremonies (MC): Veteran William Horn, was a United States Army Reservist for 6 years. During the time he served in the US Army, he was assigned to the Boat Unit and was assigned as the BOSUN on Army Freighter Landing Crafts.
- Guest Speaker: Saulo Armando Pena, served in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 to 1974. During his 4 year tour of duty he served as Corporal twice. Once as a Military Occupational Specialty for a few months and the remaining times as a Missile Technician. He has earned the title of a Vietnam Era Veteran.
